Analog Microelectronics GmbH Launches the Board-Mount Pressure Sensors AMS 6832

With the AMS 6832 series Analog Microelectronics GmbH, Mainz, Germany, presents a new board-mount pressure sensor family in an ultra compact DIP-6 package. The AMS 6832 are suitable for ultra low and low pressure measurements in a temperature range from -25 up to 85 °C. They have a ratiometric output voltage from 0.5 ... 4.5 V and a digital I2C output that can be used to read pressure and temperature measurement values with a length of 24 bits. Both outputs can be used at the same time.

The available pressure ranges comprise 0 ... 2.5 mbar up to 0 ... 100 mbar for differential pressure applications and -1.25 ... 1.25 mbar up to -100 ... 100 mbar for bidirectional differential pressure measurements. Due to the membrane based measurement principle the sensors are completely gas tight. Their burst pressure is at least ten times the specified maximum measurement pressure. With their high accuracy and low total error band (TEB) within the compensated temperature range the AMS 6832 series can be used almost universally in applications where precise pressure measurements are required alongside a consequent miniaturisation.

Besonders hervorzuhebende Anwendungsbereiche für die AMS 6832 sind die Klimatechnik (HVAC), die Gebäudeautomation, die Medizintechnik, die Strömungs- und Geschwindigkeitsmessung in der Luft- und Raumfahrt sowie in der Wehrtechnik. Durch den gleichzeitig nutzbaren analogen Spannungs- und digitalen I2C-Ausgang eignet sich die Sensorserie auch für sicherheitskritische Anwendungen, bei denen erhöhte Ausfallsicherheit durch Redundanz benötigt wird.
